大安鄉北自大安溪起南迄大甲溪止，位於台中縣大甲扇狀平原西境，其南北長而東西窄，呈現長方形狀。鄉內東西寬度為4.2公里，南北長度為9.08公里。全鄉總面積為27.4045平方公里，其面積在本縣各鄉鎮中居第18位。
鄉內轄區含：南埔村、南庄村、中庄村、 龜壳村、福興村、 東安村、頂安村、永安村、福住村、海墘村、西安村、松雅村。
